Community Engagement Volunteers help us to engage our local communities and inform them about crime and our work.
Main Activities
This role will involve one or more of the following activities:
- Give presentations to community groups and schools about crime and our work
- Support our team by writing to local organisations such as Parish Councils and supermarkets to secure extra funding
- Run Community Engagement Information sessions within the local community in which you live to raise awareness of Victim Support in the local area eg. Having a stall at a local fete, attending local groups etc etc
Specific Role activities Activities specific to this role include:
- Give presentations to community groups, schools, colleges and universities about Domestic Abuse.
- Support staff to deliver professionals training to partners to raise awareness of Domestic Abuse.
- Attend partner events such as careers events at university, open days, volunteer recruitment events, to raise VS profile
- Support the Engagement Officer to facilitate meetings in local communities to improve engagement.
- Distribute and/or deliver leaflets, posters and information packs to selected venues/locations promoting VS.
- To participate in regular 1-1 supervisions, team meetings and reviews
Role Objectives
- Giving presentations to local community groups
- Supporting income generation from Parish Councils and supermarkets
- Raising Awareness in local communities
Number of hours per week/month 3 hours per month as a minimum.
Although you are under no obligation to do so, ideally you would volunteer within this role for a period of at least 3 months. This will help you get the most out of the experience and provide some consistency for the victims and witnesses that we support.
