Sighted Guide Volunteers

This role involves categorising and cataloguing donations, setting prices for items and listing items on online selling platforms, packaging sold items for dispatch, and assisting at car boot sales and other fundraising events.

You’ll also be approaching businesses for donations for raffle and tombola prizes.

Tasks may include assisting with the production and distribution of newsletters, providing information and answering questions around events, sending marketing information to partners, contacting service users to gather feedback, and online research.

This role involves attending various events, welcoming people to group outings, guiding attendees who have sight loss at outings and events, describing surroundings or exhibition stands, and supporting attendees to get drinks etc.

Full training will be provided, no previous guide training is required.

Technology Support Volunteers

Social Group Volunteers

This role involves visiting people to help set up smart speakers, computer or audio description on televisions, supporting people to use accessibility features on  phones, tablets and computers, as well as assistive technology such as magnification software and screen reader software.

No previous experience of assistive technology required but interest using or demonstrating technology is essential.

This role involves helping to set up venues, greeting attendees, making drinks, some guiding may be required, supporting service users, and helping to pack up the venue at the end of the session.

Volunteers would need to be available between 9.30am and 1pm for any sessions they are supporting.
