The NSPCC is offering 4 workshops following the successful delivery of the ‘Women as Protectors’ groupwork programme, written to inform, empower and support women who were in contact with men who posed a sexual risk of harm to children. Our experienced practitioners will support professionals with understanding the theory, research, models and approaches when considering the complexities with assessing the sexual risk to children.

We will also share helpful tools and resources you can apply in your practice as well as hear from some of the women who attended the programme. The aim of the workshops is to compliment, support and enhance the knowledge of all professionals’ working in the Together for Childhood and surrounding areas, to prevent the risk of sexual harm to children.

The workshops are:

  1. Denial (types and purpose)
  2. Beyond Grooming (how sex offenders operate)
  3. The Good Lives Model (offender rehabilitation)
  4. Protective Behaviours (working with children)

Spaces will be prioritised for anyone working or volunteering with children within the Together for Childhood area of Chell, Chell Heath or Fegg Hayes. However, we would also really welcome applications from professionals working in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.

The venue for the workshops is NSPCC, 213 Basford Park Road, Newcastle, ST5 0PG

The workshops are free of charge. If you are unable to attend, cancellations must be received in writing at least 24 hours before the date of your workshop. Unfortunately, anyone who does not attend and fails to give apologies may be charged a £50 non-attendance fee.
