Become a Trustee with Lifeworks North Staffs
Help make a life‑changing difference for autistic people across North Staffordshire
Lifeworks North Staffs is recruiting Trustees (18+) to help guide and support the charity as it continues to grow and support more people in the community.
Since 2006, Lifeworks has supported autistic people aged 14+ and their carers, now working with over 900 clients and 330 carers across North Staffordshire and the Staffordshire Moorlands.

 

About the Role
As a Trustee, you will help ensure the charity is well‑governed, sustainable, and focused on delivering meaningful support.
Time Commitment

Around 6 meetings per year (2 hours each) at the Newcastle‑under‑Lyme office
An additional 1–2 hours per month of flexible support or consultation


What Trustees Do

Ensure Lifeworks achieves its charitable objectives
Ensure compliance with charity law and governing documents
Help shape the strategic direction of the organisation
Support the development of financial strategies and funding streams
Review and update policies to meet statutory requirements
Contribute skills and experience to support the charity’s work


Skills We’re Looking For
We are particularly interested in people with experience in:

Human Resources
Law
Business
Finance, including developing and maximising funding streams

You do not need previous trustee experience — your skills, perspective, and commitment are what matter.

 

About Lifeworks North Staffs
Lifeworks supports marginalised people aged 14+ living with:

Autism
ADHD
Dyspraxia
Tourette’s Syndrome

We also support their carers through:

Advocacy (social interpretation)
One‑to‑one appointments
Life coaching
Activities and drop‑ins
Carers’ groups
Befriending services

The charity was founded by parents and carers who identified a lack of autism support locally.

 

Our Impact

No formal care pathway exists for autistic people in North Staffordshire
Lifeworks receives referrals from:

NHS mental health services
Social services
Other organisations


120 new referrals in 2024
202 new referrals in 2025
Many clients report they would not have left their homes without Lifeworks’ support
