About the Role
Headway North Staffordshire supports adults living with acquired brain injuries and their carers, helping them build independence, confidence, and everyday life skills. The centre provides adapted facilities including a gym, teaching kitchen, woodwork shop, and therapy rooms within a friendly and supportive environment. We are looking for Kitchen Volunteers to support the day-to-day running of the centre.
What You'll Do
As a Kitchen Volunteer, you will work alongside the in-house cook to help prepare daily meals for service users, staff, and volunteers. You will support in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment, including washing dishes and clearing up after mealtimes. There may also be opportunities to assist with sessions in the training kitchen, helping service users develop practical cooking and life skills.
Skills and Attributes
We are looking for individuals who are organised, reliable, and punctual, with a friendly and confident approach to working with others. A genuine passion for supporting the disabled community is important. An interest in cooking or food preparation is desirable but not essential.
Benefits to You
This role offers the opportunity to be part of a welcoming and supportive team while making a real difference. You will gain experience in a kitchen environment and contribute to supporting individuals in developing independence and confidence.
Training and Expenses
Full training and ongoing support will be provided. Travel expenses are covered, and a mid-day meal is provided while volunteering. You will also receive a uniform polo shirt, name badge, and DBS check.
Hours and Commitment
Volunteering is flexible, with opportunities available Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 4:00pm. You can choose the days and times that suit you.
