Join the Susie Cooper Community Gardeners!
The Susie Cooper Community Gardeners (SCCGs) are a friendly, community-based group working to improve the Susie Cooper Community Garden and surrounding area in Milton, Stoke-on-Trent. Our aim is simple: to make the local environment a more attractive and enjoyable place to live, work, and visit.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us continue developing and maintaining this much-loved green space.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of our team, you may get involved in a range of activities, including:
General garden upkeep and development
Dead-heading and weeding borders
Pruning trees, shrubs, and plants
Propagating and raising young plants
Grass cutting (training provided where appropriate)
Litter picking
Setting up and removing displays
Assisting with ongoing improvements to the garden
Welcoming visitors and answering questions
Time Commitment
Ideally around 2 hours per week
Flexible arrangements can be discussed
Skills & Qualities
Interest in gardening (experience helpful but not essential)
Enjoy working as part of a team
Reasonable level of fitness
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Training & Support
Informal, hands-on learning through shared knowledge
Opportunity to learn new gardening skills every session
Training provided for safe use of equipment, such as the lawn mower (if required)
