Trustee Opportunity
The Lyme Trust
The Lyme Trust is a local charity established in 1974, dedicated to supporting homeless people with mild to moderate mental health challenges.
We are seeking new Trustees to join our board and help guide the charity’s future.
The Role of a Trustee
Trustees provide strategic oversight, direction, and guidance to the Director of Operations and her staff. The board is accountable for ensuring the charity:
Delivers supportive, high‑quality care
Uses its resources effectively and efficiently
Remains focused on its mission of “helping people mend their broken lives”
About the Board
A small, friendly, and professional group
Meets monthly
Works collaboratively and constructively
Values shared responsibility and open discussion
Time Commitment
Approximately 3–5 hours per month
We aim to be as flexible as possible so trustees can balance the role alongside other commitments
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from:
People with experience of serving on or reporting to a board
Individuals taking on their first trustee role — training and support will be provided
Previous trustee experience is not essential. What matters most is:
Commitment to our mission and values
Ability to work collectively as part of a team
Willingness to contribute thoughtfully to discussions and decision‑making
Skills We’d Like to Strengthen
We are particularly interested in trustees who can bring skills or experience in:
Financial oversight
Strategy development
Marketing
Income generation
We also welcome people from any background or professional discipline who can help the board consider future opportunities and challenges for The Lyme Trust.
If you want to use your skills, experience, and values to help shape the future of a long‑standing local charity, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
