About the Role
Urban Wilderness is bringing fun, colour, music and entertainment to Longton town centre with the Longton Carnival and Pig Walk Parade on Sunday 26 April 2026. Set to be bigger, brighter and full of spring energy, this event relies on volunteers to help make the day a success.
What You'll Do
On the day, you may take on a range of roles depending on your interests and experience. This includes helping as an Event Steward by sharing information and guiding visitors, supporting performances, artists and workshops, or joining the Parade Stewards by walking alongside performers. You may also support the Site Dressing Team, helping to decorate the streets ahead of the event and assist with clearing away afterwards.
Skills and Attributes
You should be enthusiastic, friendly and confident interacting with the public. A positive attitude, reliability and willingness to get involved as part of a team are important. There are opportunities to suit a variety of skills and experience levels.
Benefits to You
This is an opportunity to be part of a lively community event and enjoy a fun, creative atmosphere. Volunteers will receive snacks, drinks, lunch and a Pig Walk 2026 T-shirt, while contributing to a well-loved local celebration.
Training and Support
A volunteer training session will take place on Saturday 18 April at Moony Club, 15 Bennett Precinct, Longton Exchange, ST3 2HT. This will provide all the information needed to support the event.
