Evening Events Volunteer - CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You Project
As part of the CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You project, we are recruiting volunteers to support Evening Events in libraries, with a focus on adult wellbeing. These events aim to create welcoming, social spaces where adults can relax, connect, and take part in shared activities.
About the Role
As an Evening Events Volunteer, you will support a range of library events, including:
Story‑telling sessions
Chess tournaments
Poetry slams
Book groups
Singing groups
You will help ensure events run smoothly and that visitors feel welcomed and supported.
Key Tasks
Welcome customers and visitors to evening events
Assist with hospitality, including offering refreshments
Help prepare materials for activities
Support setting up and arranging library furniture
Gather feedback from participants
Engage with and support participants to meet new people and make new friends

Free tea and coffee
Relevant induction and ongoing support
Who We’re Looking For
Friendly, warm, and approachable
Confident engaging with a range of people
Patient, with good listening skills
Able to use their own initiative and creativity
Comfortable supporting hospitality tasks
Able to assist with setting up library furniture
Interested in supporting adult wellbeing through community activities
Time Commitment
As little as 2 hours per week
