Gardeners’ Social Group Volunteer - CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You Project
As part of the CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You project, we are recruiting volunteers to support Gardeners’ Social Groups in libraries, with a focus on adult wellbeing.
These groups provide a welcoming space for adults to share an interest in gardening, connect with others, and enjoy social interaction in a relaxed environment.
About the Role
As a Gardeners’ Social Group Volunteer, you will help support the setup and running of gardening‑focused social groups within Stoke‑on‑Trent Libraries.
Welcome new members to the group
Share your gardening knowledge and help teach others
Encourage participants to get involved
Support people to meet new people and make new friends
Help raise awareness of the group within local communities
Contribute to a friendly, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere

Resources, materials, and equipment for the group
Free tea and coffee
Relevant induction and ongoing support
Who We’re Looking For
Friendly, warm, and approachable
Confident engaging with people
Patient, with good listening skills
Knowledgeable or experienced in gardening or related activities
Able to use their own initiative and creativity
Interested in supporting adult wellbeing through shared interests
Time Commitment
As little as 2 hours per week
