Creative Writing Group Support
CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You Project
As part of the CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You Project, we are recruiting volunteers to support Creative Writing Groups in libraries, with a focus on adult wellbeing.
These groups provide a friendly, supportive space where adults can explore creative writing, share ideas, and connect with others in their local community.
The Volunteer Role
We are looking for friendly volunteers who feel confident:
Welcoming new members to Creative Writing Groups
Sharing knowledge and supporting others with creative writing
Encouraging participants to get involved and share their ideas
Creating a relaxed and inclusive group environment
Helping spread awareness of the groups within local communities
What We Provide
All resources, materials, and equipment
Free tea and coffee during sessions
Relevant induction and ongoing support
You don’t need to organise materials — everything you need will be provided.
Who We’re Looking For
A friendly person with strong social skills
Warm, caring, and able to engage well with people
Patient, with good listening skills
Knowledge and skills in creative writing
Someone who can use their own initiative and creativity
Able to commit as little as 2 hours per week
If you feel you could support Stoke‑on‑Trent Libraries to set up and run Creative Writing Groups, we would love you to become one of our volunteers and help support adult wellbeing through creativity and connection.
