Description:As part of CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You Stoke-on-Trent Libraries are setting up Menopause support groups in libraries. These groups will provide a relaxed social setting where people can come and talk about their personal experience of menopause. Groups are designed to provide a safe space where people can talk openly if they wish or simply to spend time amongst others who have a shared experience of menopause and its impact on everyday life. We aim to provide a warm space, a warm drink and a warm welcome to anyone who needs a little bit of support. We are looking for caring individuals who understand how menopause can be a very lonely and isolating experience and would feel confident in welcoming people to the group, providing a sympathetic ear, helping people make new connections with others in the group and signposting individuals to other groups and professional organisations to help them get the very best support where necessary.Training will be provided, and regular meetings and wellbeing sessions will be arranged to fully support volunteers as part of the CLaY project. We are looking for: a friendly person with great social skills someone who is warm and caring and can engage well with people someone with patience and good listening skillssomeone with knowledge of useful community support services12 months commitment (ideally)
