About the Role
As part of the CLaY: Communities, Libraries and You project, Stoke-on-Trent Libraries are setting up Menopause Support Groups in local libraries. These groups provide a relaxed, social space where people can talk about their personal experiences of menopause or simply spend time with others who share similar experiences. The aim is to create a safe, welcoming environment that supports wellbeing and reduces isolation.

What You'll Do
You will help welcome people to the group and create a warm, friendly atmosphere. This includes offering a listening ear, supporting open and respectful conversations, and helping individuals feel comfortable and included. You may also help people connect with others in the group and signpost them to additional support services or organisations where needed.

Skills and Attributes
You should be friendly, warm and able to engage well with people. Patience and good listening skills are important, along with confidence to support individuals who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation. An understanding of menopause and awareness of local support services is beneficial.

Benefits to You
This role offers the opportunity to support wellbeing within your community and help create a safe, inclusive space for people to connect and share experiences. You will be part of a supportive project focused on improving community health and connection.

Training and Support
Full training will be provided. Volunteers will also have access to regular meetings and wellbeing sessions as part of the CLaY project to ensure they feel supported in their role.

Commitment
A commitment of around 12 months is preferred to help provide consistency and stability for group members.

You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.
