Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and understanding of its needs. Everything we do centres on cats, with three key objectives:
Homing
Neutering
Educating people about cats and their care
Each year, thousands of cats across the UK are helped by our network of dedicated volunteers, employees, and supporters.
About the Role
Cats Protection has over 250 volunteer‑led branches across the UK, each supporting cats in their local area. Branches:
Take in stray and abandoned cats
Ensure cats receive veterinary care and attention
Raise funds
Promote neutering
Share cat welfare messages
As a Branch Team Leader, you will lead your local volunteer team, helping them feel supported, confident, and organised, while promoting a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.
What You’ll Do
Support and manage volunteers across their roles
Promote a positive and effective team environment
Ensure charity best practice, compliance, and safeguarding
Work with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
Lead the team in following Cats Protection policies, procedures, and guidelines
Monitor expenditure and support long‑term financial stability
Organise and chair team meetings
Act as an ambassador for Cats Protection
Who We’re Looking For
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and people‑management skills
Experience encouraging a positive team culture
Confidence ensuring policies and procedures are followed
Excellent communication skills with individuals and groups
Organised, with the ability to prioritise and delegate
Able to think ahead and plan effectively
Patient, diplomatic, and approachable
Basic IT skills (training and support provided)
Committee volunteer roles require volunteers to be 18+
Time Commitment
Around 15 hours per week, flexible
Some periods of the year may require additional time (e.g. financial year end)
Ongoing support and guidance provided throughout
