Newcastle Community Transport is a charity organisation which this year 2024 celebrates 50 years supporting isolated groups or individuals by offering low cost secure friendly transport accessible to able bodied and less able adults resident in Newcastle-under-Lyme and local surrounding areas.
We assist people who do not have their own vehicle and find it difficult to access public transport. These journeys are often health-related appointments, social activities, visiting friends and family or to include you in social groups which will ensure social inclusion and the ability to attend appointment and groups to enable monitoring new or ongoing health issues. To keep our operating costs to a minimum we currently work from home unless volunteering to drive our mini buses.
We are looking for a Volunteer Administration Assistant to help us move our organisation forward and continue to be fit for purpose, hopefully continuing for as long as our vulnerable customers need assistance with affordable transport. in the 21st Century.
You will need is to be computer literate and have a patient and friendly manner.
The hours are flexible; a few hours a day and tasks will be arranged to suit your best skills.
Good communication skills are important as the team mostly work in their own homes.
If you are willing you will have the opportunity to attend our meetings and we hope you will grow in your role when settled giving you opportunity to understand more about the charitable organisation and roles.
Purpose of the role:
To support The Trustees with various admin tasks
To deputise for our Transport Co-ordinator when on holiday with support and training.
Using a computer to input data and use emails
Able to use AA auto router and produce estimates for journeys
Ideal skills:
Computer literate or familiar with most Microsoft packages
Able to communicate with others and ask for help if needed
Organised and methodical
Able to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
Patient and friendly phone manner

We require volunteers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, however we are open to hours which may suit you better. The ideal times would be of 9:30am to 11:30am. Just give as much or as little time as you can. Volunteering from home can suit your homelife, personal needs or commitments, whilst using existing skills and being able to take pride in supporting others and your local community.
