Description:
The Barracks Trust is a company limited by guarantee which was incorporated in November 2010 and registered as a charity in July 2011. We ensure the conservation of the Barracks for present and future generations; and support local communities through grant-aiding local voluntary and community groups. It intends to meet these aims through meeting the following objectives:Development of a fundraising strategy to meet building refurbishment costs; ensuring that grant aid is available to individuals and small organisations for the benefit of the residents of a Newcastle-under-Lyme.Maximising the usage potential of the building for income generation; attract the right mix of tenants in keeping with the ambience of the Barracks and it's purpose.Establish a building that complies with all legal, planning and general building legislation.Improve the historic profiles and increase public awareness of the Barracks as a Heritage site The Trust is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers with a wide range of skills including property management, governance, insurance and IT. The board of directors of the company are also trustees of the charity. To help us grow we need experienced members of the public to join the board. We are particularly keen to recruit members who have one or more of the following skills:Experience of financial procedures in the charity sectorExpertise in fundraising, social media or ITExperience in building managementInterest in Historical research Board meetings are held every three months normally on a Wednesday between 10am and 1pm followed by lunch. In between the board meetings various sub groups meet to define the strategy for specific areas.
