Mothers Mind (Staffordshire)
Mothers Mind is a charity dedicated to supporting and empowering women experiencing maternal mental health challenges. We provide a safe, open, and non‑judgemental space where women can talk freely about their feelings and emotions while navigating the journey of motherhood and mental illness.
We support those who may be struggling with:
Identity changes during the transition into motherhood
Low body confidence and self‑esteem
Loss of independence and adapting to lifestyle changes
Feelings of anger, resentment, or envy
Relationship challenges impacted by mental health
Our aim is to offer compassionate peer support for women and families, helping them feel heard, understood, and less alone.
Volunteer Role: Peer Supporter for Maternal Mental Health
We are looking for compassionate and empathetic individuals to join our team as Peer Supporters.
About the Role
As a Peer Supporter, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for women attending our group sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Welcoming new members into the group
Helping create a comfortable space (e.g. making tea and toast)
Taking part in and supporting group discussions
Offering empathy and understanding through shared experiences
Who We’re Looking For
Must have personal experience of maternal mental illness
Able to commit to 2 hours per week (Monday or Thursday)
Friendly, open, and approachable personality
Comfortable sharing your own experiences to support others
