Time Commitment: Minimum 2 hours per week

About the Role
Bake a Difference Ambassadors play a key role in supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK’s annual fundraising campaign, Bake a Difference, taking place on 9 November 2023. As an ambassador, you will help recruit and support volunteers to take part in bake sales and coffee mornings, raising vital funds and awareness for people living with muscle-wasting conditions.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Bake a Difference Ambassador, you will:

Act as a representative of Muscular Dystrophy UK in your local area
Recruit volunteers from your friends, family, workplace, and wider community to take part in Bake a Difference
Encourage and support volunteers to hold coffee and cake events that can help fund vital research into muscle-wasting conditions
Raise awareness of the Bake a Difference campaign and help increase engagement with bake sale events
Confidently talk about the cause and the work of the charity, helping to raise its profile
Build and maintain positive relationships with supporters, volunteers, and community contacts

 

Specific Tasks May Include

Promoting small business involvement in Bake a Difference, including outreach to cafés, libraries, bakeries, and local businesses
Speaking about muscular dystrophy and the charity’s work to fight muscle disease
Identifying opportunities to share contact details and develop ongoing relationships
Providing feedback to help improve and develop campaign activity
Reporting back to the Regional Development Manager on events, key contacts, and follow-up actions

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role

A welcoming, friendly, and approachable manner
Good verbal communication skills, both over the phone and via email
Confidence in delivering key messages clearly and enthusiastically
A proactive and adaptable approach to identifying volunteering and recruitment opportunities
An understanding of, and commitment to, disability issues, equal opportunities, and diversity
A willingness to engage new audiences and build strong relationships
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
