Can you spare a few hours each week to help someone improve their reading skills?
Read Easy North Staffs is a small voluntary organisation working across Stoke‑on‑Trent and Newcastle‑under‑Lyme, providing free, one‑to‑one reading coaching to adults who struggle to read.
The Role
As a Volunteer Reading Coach, you will:
Work one‑to‑one with an adult learner
Meet regularly at a community venue such as a local library
Follow a structured reading programme
Support someone to build confidence and independence through reading
Training & Support
Full training provided before you begin
Ongoing guidance and support throughout your volunteering
A simple, step‑by‑step approach — no teaching experience needed
What We’re Looking For
Friendly, patient, and reliable individuals
Willingness to support an adult learner
Commitment to attending regular sessions
Good to Know
Flexible hours to fit around your schedule
Short waiting list may apply for this role
