Description:
Would you like the chance to go camping, climbing, potholing, lead community projects while helping prepare young people with skills for life? As a section leader you will do all of this and more, using your skills and learning new ones.As part of Scout Group, you will be plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, making sure every young person gets the chance to spend at least one night away each year. You'll use your energy and creativity to help young people have fun, develop their potential and earn a wide range of badges and awards, including the prestigious Chief Scout Awards. Of course you won't have to do this alone – a team of supporters, parents and the young people themselves will help you plan and deliver the programme. But it's your enthusiasm and sense of fun and adventure that will inspire them. Most of our volunteers work directly with young people aged 4-18 through our Squirrels, Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer groups, known as sections – helping young people gain skills for life through activities and adventures.Working in teams, they might:Welcome young people and families to sessions and eventsMake sure everyone's safe, supported, included and having fun Help to plan and lead activitiesGet involved with days out, camps and expeditions Share and learn skills – from coding to cake decorating to canoeing Celebrate young people's achievements big and small No previous experience with young people? No problem. Whether you'd like to help out week-after-week or whenever-you-can, we provide training, learning opportunities and cups of tea – every step of the way. Making it all happenWant to make a big impact behind the scenes? Your time and skills can make a difference in so many ways. Not all volunteers work directly with young people. Locally, regionally and nationally, many help out in other ways.Working in teams, they might: Get the best out of volunteers, using their people and leadership skillsSpread the word about Scouts to attract new membersHelp with admin, fundraising, finances, operations or governance Keep everything running smoothly on the ground – from serving tea and coffee, helping to tidy up after meetings or sessions, driving or keeping meeting places in tip top condition Not sure how you'd like to help yet, or how much time you have to give? No worries. Your local team can chat you through a whole host of options – including flexible and occasional volunteering.
You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.
