Purpose of the Role
To provide accurate and engaging information about the Middleport Pottery site and its history, ensuring every visitor enjoys an excellent visitor experience, and to act as an ambassador for Re-Form Heritage.


Main Tasks

Interact with visitors to provide information about what there is to see and do on site
Deliver excellent customer service and act as a first point of contact for visitor enquiries
Offer an optional heritage site tour in line with approved scripts and standards
Deliver tours as required and adapt to updates or changes to tour content
Inform visitors about the history of Middleport Pottery and Burleigh

Engaging with Visitors

Meet and welcome visitors taking part in the Heritage Trail
Engage with visitors, discussing specific interests where possible and advising on additional activities and information
Communicate clearly and audibly with tour participants
Collect formal and informal visitor feedback

 

Person Specification

Strong communication skills and confidence in public speaking
Commitment to high standards of customer service
Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn new skills
Interest in and ability to learn about Middleport Pottery and its history
Ability to lead and direct groups of people
Flexible approach, including covering for other volunteers or supporting large tour groups when needed
Ability to work independently and use own initiative
Logical and organised approach to tasks and responsibilities


Training will include:

Provision of the approved tour script
Learning the history of Middleport Pottery and the heritage areas
Role shadowing with experienced Heritage Site Guides
Mentoring from an experienced Heritage Site Guide
Access to Volunteer Resource Information booklets and relevant documents
Two-way radio training
Health and Safety training
Safeguarding training

Ongoing training will be provided as required.


Location and Hours
Middleport Pottery
Heritage areas are open 10am–4pm, seven days a week

You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.
