Retail Assistant – Middleport Pottery (Re-Form Heritage)


Re-Form Heritage is proud to have achieved the GOLD Volunteer Quality Standard Award through VAST, recognising our commitment to delivering an outstanding volunteer experience.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic and friendly individuals to join our team as Volunteer Retail Assistants at the iconic Middleport Pottery.

 

Purpose of the Role
To help maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-stocked retail environment while acting as an ambassador for Re-Form Heritage and enhancing visitors’ experience.

 

Main Tasks

Welcome and interact with visitors in a friendly, approachable manner
Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised retail space
Replenish stock and assist with stock counting when required
Ensure all products are clearly labelled and priced
Support clay and craft activities during quieter periods (e.g., preparing clay or assembling craft packs)


Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is:

Friendly with strong communication skills
Committed to providing excellent customer service
Enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills
Interested in the history of Middleport Pottery (training will be provided)
Flexible and willing to support different areas when needed
Able to work independently and use their own initiative
Organised with a logical approach to tasks

Retail experience is not essential as full training will be provided.

 

Training and Support
You will receive:

A full induction and introduction to the team
Role shadowing with experienced retail volunteers
Opportunities to learn about the heritage and history of Middleport Pottery
Training on stock knowledge, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures
Ongoing development and support throughout your volunteering


Location & Hours

Location: Middleport Pottery
Opening Hours: 10:00am – 4:00pm, seven days a week
Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Occasional support may be required at special events, including evenings
