Events Support Volunteer - Re‑Form Heritage – Middleport Pottery & Harper Street
 

Re‑Form Heritage has achieved the GOLD Volunteer Quality Standard Award through VAST, recognising our commitment to supporting and valuing volunteers. We are recruiting Events Support Volunteers to help deliver events at Middleport Pottery and Harper Street, supporting visitors and contributing to the smooth running of activities.

 

Purpose of the Role
To support the Events Manager with the organisation, set‑up, and delivery of events, including on‑the‑day support. Volunteers will also act as ambassadors for Re‑Form Heritage, helping create welcoming and positive experiences for visitors.

 

Main Tasks

Support pre‑event site preparation and post‑event clear‑down
Prepare, install, and de‑rig site decorations
Welcome visitors and provide heritage guidance at events
Assist with the delivery of activities during events
Support admission stations, including occasional cash handling
Help manage breaks and intervals
Assist with event hospitality
Sign in and out at the Visitor Information Desk

Events may occasionally take place during evenings or weekends.

Health and Safety Responsibilities
Volunteers are expected to:

Follow all health and safety procedures
Follow emergency procedures correctly
Report any incidents or hazards as soon as possible


Person Specification

Good communication skills
A commitment to excellent customer service
Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills
An interest in learning about the history of Middleport Pottery
A flexible approach and willingness to support other areas when needed
Ability to use their own initiative
A logical approach to tasks


Training Provided

Induction and introduction to staff and volunteers
Heritage training to support knowledge of Middleport Pottery
Role shadowing with Events and Site Support Volunteers
Health and Safety training
Safeguarding training

Ongoing training will be provided as required.

 

Location and Hours

Location: Middleport Pottery
Heritage areas: Open 10am–4pm, seven days a week
Office hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Additional volunteer support may be required during evenings and weekends

You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.
