About Dougie Mac
Dougie Mac is an all-age hospice supporting adults, young adults, and children living with life-limiting illnesses across Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire, and surrounding areas. We also provide vital support to their families and carers.
Our work is only possible thanks to our incredible volunteers. Our 21 charity shops play a crucial role in raising the funds needed to continue delivering our specialist care services.

What Will I Be Doing?

Maintaining a high standard of shop floor presentation
Serving customers, operating the till, and packaging purchases
Promoting and signing up supporters to Gift Aid
Displaying and merchandising stock
Providing excellent customer service
Sorting donated items (clothing, accessories, bric-a-brac)
Preparing stock by sizing, hanging, and pricing items
Recycling items that are unsuitable for sale


Who Will I Report To?
You will be supported by the Community Shop Manager.

 

What Skills Do I Need?
We’re looking for volunteers who are:

Friendly, reliable, and trustworthy
Confident interacting with people
Willing to learn and be part of a team

No formal qualifications or previous experience are required—full training will be provided, including Health & Safety awareness training.

What Should I Wear?

A volunteer badge (provided) must be worn at all times
Smart, practical clothing and appropriate footwear


Time Commitment

Flexible 3–4 hour shifts during shop opening hours
