Description:
Could you help support the development of an effective Parent Carer Forum in Stoke on Trent?Key tasks:Support the Parent Carer Forum's Steering Group on a range of tasks enabling the development of the forum.We are looking for an individual who is passionate about improving services and support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).Knowledge and experience of SEND is desirable but not essential as the role will be supported by VAST and the Steering Group members.You could help the forum to grow by proactively engaging local organisations and families to promote the forum and grow its membership. You could research and produce relevant news stories and information for local families, or perhaps you can help administrate the social media platforms or simply help with administrative tasks.You might like to work with Steering Group members to plan and host events and coffee mornings.The possibilities are endless but if you feel you have skills and enthusiasm to support the forum we'd love to hear from you.Training and Support:Full training will be given in the procedures and systems used as part of induction.Regular 121 with Volunteer Lead.Option to attend regular forum Steering Group meetings.Ongoing training and upskilling available.Benefits to the Volunteer:Supporting and feeling connected to your local community in particular children with additional needs and disabilities and their families.Social interaction with both families, local organisations and a busy office environment.Ability to develop or increase organisational and personal skills.Access to training.Flexible hours available. There is no minimum or maximum commitment.Travel expenses will be paid. Free lunch in The Dudson Café if volunteering for more than 4 hours.
