About Dougie Mac
Dougie Mac is an all-age hospice supporting adults, young adults, and children with life-limiting illnesses across Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire, and surrounding villages. We also provide ongoing support to families and carers.
Our 21 charity shops play a vital role in raising the funds needed to deliver our specialist care. Without the support of our volunteers, this work would not be possible.

Role Overview
As a Volunteer Retail Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of the shop by:

Maintaining high standards of shop floor presentation
Serving customers and operating the till
Promoting and registering customers for Gift Aid
Displaying and merchandising stock
Providing a high level of customer service
Sorting donations (clothing, accessories, bric-a-brac)
Preparing stock (sizing, hanging, pricing)
Recycling unsuitable items


Support
You will be supported by the Community Shop Manager.

What We’re Looking For

Reliable, friendly, and trustworthy individuals
Good communication and people skills
Willingness to learn and work as part of a team

No previous experience or qualifications are required. Full training, including Health and Safety awareness, will be provided.

 

Additional Information

Dress code: Smart, practical clothing with a volunteer badge (provided)
Time commitment: Flexible 3–4 hour shifts during shop opening hours
