About Changes Health & Wellbeing

Changes Health & Wellbeing provides mental health support services for children, young people, and adults across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. The service focuses on recovery, peer support, and supporting people to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

About the Role

This volunteer role supports adults who are experiencing mental health difficulties through structured peer support. Volunteers work alongside staff to help facilitate weekly Peer Support meetings and promote recovery-focused conversations.

The Role Involves:

  • Undertaking a bespoke 17-week accredited training course (fully funded for potential volunteers).
    The next training course begins in October.

  • Working in partnership with an Outcomes Administrator to facilitate a weekly Peer Support meeting.

  • Supporting adults who are struggling with their mental health.

  • Encouraging discussion around:

    • The 12 Steps

    • Wellness Action Plans (WAPs)

    • Goal setting

    • Recovery

  • Supporting users to develop and implement customised Wellness Action Plans (WAPs).

  • Using WAPs to help service users identify and access relevant public, voluntary, and private sector services.

  • Ensuring no discrimination occurs based on age, gender, sexuality, race, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic.

  • Adhering to appropriate systems of management, monitoring, and evaluation.

  • Supporting Changes Health & Wellbeing’s goals around positive mental health outcomes.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Attend regular supervision sessions.

  • Adhere to confidentiality and legal requirements at all times.

  • Ensure Health & Safety requirements are met.

  • Support the implementation of equal opportunities across all aspects of the service.

Additional Information

Full training, support, and supervision are provided throughout the volunteering role.

You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.
