About the Role
Main Reception & Outpatients (OPD) Volunteers support the hospital’s reception and outpatient services by welcoming patients, visitors and members of the public. The role focuses on providing guidance, answering enquiries and helping create a positive, calm and supportive environment for everyone attending the hospital. Volunteers work closely with reception staff and OPD teams.
What You'll Do
You will greet patients, families and visitors on arrival and offer support, reassurance and guidance as needed. You will help direct people to their destinations, either by giving clear directions or escorting them. The role may also include assisting patients who require wheelchair support, responding to general enquiries and supporting the day-to-day work of the reception team.
Skills and Attributes
You should be friendly, enthusiastic and approachable, with the ability to stay calm and compassionate in difficult or emotional situations. A strong focus on customer service is important, along with reliability and commitment to regular attendance. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
