Group Co-facilitator Volunteer

Description:

Reaching CIC is a non-profit organisation which offer free and paid services to adults experiencing material & emotional hardship as a result of physical, mental and learning disabilities. We offer outreach, group and telephone support to improve wellbeing, combat isolation and improve living standards. Reaching is a forward thinking, innovative CIC which strives to provide vulnerable groups with the best quality support services, underpinned by evidence-based practice. 

 

Roles and Responsbilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation and development of group arrangements, themes, and activities
  • Telephone communication with service users to support attendance
  • Welcoming our service user community to a group setting
  • Preparing simple beverages for people to drink
  • Full participation in the group, managing communications, listening, and sometimes signposting
  • Documenting significant information
  • Playing a team role in a forward-thinking organisation with a passion for supporting vulnerable adults

 

Sessions:

  • Tuesday - 10am til 12pm The Glost House (Longton)
  • Wednesday - 10am til 12pm The Green Tree House Food Club & Tea Room (Biddulph) and 2pm til 4pm Foxlowe Arts Centre (Leek)
  • Thursday 10am til 12pm Brampton Museum (Newcastle) and 2pm til 4pm LongRest Boardgame Bar and Cafe (Hanley)

 

Skills and Experience desired:

  • Great communication skill
  • Compassionate, empathetic approach to all situations
  • A great leader and mentor to people, without judgement or oppression
  • Lived experience is always valued but not necessary
  • Experience of working with vulnerable groups preferable, or an ability to show how you can work with our service user community in a positive way
  • Reliable and committed to the role
  • Someone who is always willing to self reflect and learn best practices
  • Ability to use IT and Microsoft desirable 
  • Aged 18+

  • We have an expense policy so that you won’t be out of pocket for any volunteer related expenses 
You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.
