The Big Help Out: National Campaign, Local Impact
Community Volunteering is an important part of the UK’s story and now, thousands of organisations – big and small – are getting together for The Big Help Out on Monday 8th May to mark The King’s Coronation by giving everybody the chance to try volunteering for themselves and make a difference in their community.
If you’re hosting a Coronation Big Lunch or another event for The King’s Coronation – or in the near future – why not use The Big Help Out to give people the opportunity to get involved. This could be through informal volunteer activities, maybe some taster sessions to help people experience what you do, or to help out at one of your events and do something special for the dedicated Big Help Out day on Monday 8th May.
Involving volunteers in your organisation can add huge value to what you do and have a very real positive impact on your local community, especially in this time of national celebration. Attracting new volunteers through The Big Help Out could also be beneficial in the long term; those new volunteers might tell others about their experience – so make sure it’s a positive one, they might enjoy themselves so much that they’ll volunteer with you on a more regular basis (and possibly encourage others to do so too), and you could find out that they have some valuable skills you didn’t know your organisation needed. You never know what someone new can bring to your organisation or your community.
We can offer organisations like yours in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire free support around planning and running community events, and with volunteer recruitment to help your event run smoothly.
If you’re not hosting a community event, why not join one?
Starting on Monday 8th May there will be opportunities everywhere for everyone to join in. No matter what you are good at, what you care about, how much time you can spare, your abilities… there’ll be something to suit helping hands of all shapes and sizes! From checking in on someone who’d like a bit of company, helping organise a community event or street party, or volunteering for a charity, there really is a volunteering opportunity for everyone!
The Big Help Out is taking place on Monday 8th May right across the UK, and if you want to get involved, please visit our online notice board to see hundreds of volunteering opportunities in the local area.
