Supporting grassroots sport across Great Britain
Grassroots sports clubs play a vital role in communities across Great Britain. They bring people together, encourage people of all ages and abilities to get active, and help build confidence, friendships and a lifelong love of sport.
That’s why Aldi is proud to support community sports organisations through the Aldi Sports Fund.
Through the fund, eligible sports clubs can receive support towards essential costs such as equipment, team kits, coaching, training programmes and facility hire.
Since launching in Scotland in 2016, the fund has awarded more than £500,000 to over 650 grassroots sports clubs. By expanding the initiative into England and Wales, we are proud to help even more clubs support their communities.
The power of grassroots sport
From first kicks and first serves to finish lines and final whistles, grassroots sport creates opportunities for people to get involved, learn new skills and feel part of something.
Local clubs often rely on volunteers, fundraising and community support to keep going. Funding can help them reach more people, improve the experience for existing members and create a more welcoming environment for everyone.
Whether it helps a club replace worn-out equipment, provide specialist coaching, hire a suitable venue or introduce new sessions, even a relatively small funding boost can make a meaningful difference.
What can the funding help with?
Funding can be used towards a range of essential club costs, including:
- Sports equipment
- Team kits and clothing
- Coaching
- Training programmes
- Facility hire
- Costs that help increase participation
- Improvements that enhance the experience for club members
If the funding would help your club grow, welcome more people or make a greater difference in your local community, we would love to hear from you.
