Posted on behalf of Carys Oakley, Project Co-ordinator the Staffordshire Youth Commission:
The Staffordshire Youth Commission is a county-wide youth-led research group, funded by the Staffordshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner. Our aim is to gather the views of (predominantly) young people in the county to ensure they are taken into account by decision-makers.
The first approach is to gain an understanding of young women’s perceptions of the police and whether this influences their reporting of violence against women and girls; the second is understanding how people of different ages view anti-social behaviour and whether they believe it has any impact on their sense of community.
Violence Against Women and Girls
There is a one way to be involved with this:
Due to the sensitive nature of this topic, we are only collecting responses for this piece of work through surveys.
As with the Anti-Social Behaviour survey, this survey is available online, however, if it would be easier I am able to send over a paper version.
Note: This survey is only open to women aged 16-30.
Anti-Social Behaviour
There are two approaches we are taking with this:
Firstly, through completing our survey that usually takes around 5-10 minutes to complete. This survey is available online, however, if it would be easier I am able to send over a paper version and collect these.
Participating in focus groups where those involved can discuss their views of anti-social behaviour and discuss whether it has an impact on them and the relationship they have with other generations. For these conversations, we are happy to come to you, hold the sessions online, or arrange a place for you to come to us.
Note: For the ASB work, we are interested in gathering the views of people aged 13 and over.
Our findings from this research will be fed back to partners and the Staffordshire Police, Fire, and Crime Commissioner to help inform their understandings of what people in the county want and need from the police and fire service as well as partner organisations.
