Population Health Co-ordinator (apprentice)

To work as a member of the Strategy and Transformation team, to co-ordinate in the delivery of public health improvement activities in line with our recently approved population health and wellbeing strategy. As a Population Health Apprentice you will work in partnership to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities. You will also support the planning, delivery and evaluation of public health initiatives. You will work in specified areas of public health and across portfolio areas in line with the learning on the degree programme and population need.

This is a 3-year apprenticeship training programme to become a Public Health Practitioner gaining a BSc in Public Health (Hons) and eligibility to apply to and join the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR). You will be supported in university for a proportion of the week and the rest of your time will be spent on a variety of programme areas undertaking different
public health tasks and projects.


• A 36-month development programme plus ~3 months to complete the end point assessment. A minimum of 20% off the job training is a pre-requisite for apprenticeship eligibility (e.g. attending lectures, online learning, shadowing, learning support).
• Apprentices will have exposure to work experiences that will meet the anticipated Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours as detailed within the Public health practitioner -integrated degree / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

Eligibility criteria:
• Applicants with a previous public health related degree or post-graduate qualification will not be eligible.
• Applicants currently in possession of, or working towards, a professional registration will not be eligible (e.g. UKPHR, UKVRN).

Salary

Band 4 (This standard aligns with the following professional recognition: UK Public Health
Register occupation level 6).

Hours Per Week

37.5hrs per week (fixed for three years).

Location

Primary base Royal Stoke, but required to work across all UHNM sites and
partner locations to attend relevant events/meetings off-site. The apprentice may
need to complete placements outside of UHNM to ensure a breadth of experience,
across all domains of public health.
