Have your say about anti-social behaviour in Stoke-on-Trent

Draft Anti-Social Behaviour Policy Consultation

Have your say on how the council deals with Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)…

What is Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)?

Anti-social behaviour might be:

  • noise that happens a lot when people are yelling and being abusive to you or others,
  • where property or things are damaged illegal drug use,
  • when dogs bark a lot.

What are the council consulting about?

A new ASB policy has been developed which sets out how the council will:

  • take prompt and appropriate enforcement action to address ASB,
  • help victims to get the necessary support and resources,
  • work with partners such as the police and health services to prevent and tackle ASB,
  • identify cases that require a partnership approach and work with partners,
  • empower residents and communities in managing ASB issues.

It is important to note that the council is not always the right agent to deal with some types of ASB, for example when the ASB issue is of a criminal nature the police should be called, as the council does not have the powers of investigation or enforcement.

However, they will continue to work in partnership with these agents to deal with the ASB issue.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council would like the views from tenants, residents and stakeholders on the draft policy. Your answers and comments will be really useful in shaping the policy and responding to the wishes of residents.
