Carl, one of the Team Leaders, reached out to our Projects Team to find something where his team could make a real difference. It was decided that Gresty Street Community Allotments was the best fit! They are a self-managed community allotment site. They are currently overhauling their site to be able to support the local community with gardening education, and well-being and becoming more self-efficient with food waste and biodiversity.
The project soon came around, and Carl and his Team worked tirelessly to clear an incredible overgrown area of the allotment. They worked as part of a team to strip back the overgrown weeds, unruly trees and other bits of rubbish that had weaved its way into the weeds.
You could see a real difference that the team achieved in a day! Once the plot of land was clear, they were able to line it so that the allotment group could keep on top of the weeds ready to transform the area in Spring.
Check out the video below to see how the day went!
Quote from Gresty Street Allotment:
“When the team came for the day, they all worked extremely, hard in clearing the miniature plot area, they were so friendly and enthusiastic and were an absolute delight to have on site. The work meant that we could offer a plot the following weekend to someone in our community. We have a lot of additional projects this year and we are looking forward to really starting to make a difference for the community.”
Quotes from EE Staff:
