Finding urgent healthcare in Leek and Biddulph when you need it
Posted on behalf of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System:
We all want the quickest route to find urgent healthcare – but we’re not always sure where to turn.
NHS 111 is often the best starting point, as you’ll be directed to the best service for your needs. You can go online, phone 111, or use the NHS App.
NHS 111 can book you urgent appointments to see a GP outside normal opening hours, and appointments at Haywood Hospital’s Walk-in Centre, which is open 7am–9.30pm every day.
Find a pharmacy
Struggling with a sore throat or sinusitis? These are two of seven common conditions that most pharmacies can now supply medication for, without a prescription. You can find out more on this NHS webpage.
The NHS service finder is an easy way to find a nearby pharmacy and check opening times here.
Some local pharmacies:
- Leek Pharmacy, 55 Queens Drive, Leek – 01538 386279, open 9am–6pm on weekdays (closed weekends)
- Fountain Street Pharmacy, 15 Fountain Street, Leek – 01538 383049, open 8.30am–7pm on weekdays, 9am–5pm on Saturday

Urgent dental care
If you need urgent dental care in the evening or at the weekend, and you are registered with a dentist, try their answering service first, as it may have useful advice.
You could also try the Staffordshire Dental Advice Line on 0300 123 0981 – or contact NHS 111.
Eye concerns
If you are concerned about an eye problem that developed suddenly, like flashes, floaters or sudden vision loss, the Community Urgent Eyecare Service can provide urgent appointments. If you’re registered with a local GP, you can book directly with an optician that offers the service. Look online here or contact NHS 111.
