Collaborative Network

In July 2025, Government launched the Civil Society Covenant.

Referenced in recent guidance on neighbourhood health, the Covenant is intended to offer ‘living principles’ for resetting the relationship between the UK Government and civil society, as well as providing foundations for a strong, sustainable, and independent civil society capable of collaborating with government.

On a local level, The Civil Society Covenant reinforces the commitment already shared through local agreements, such as the VCSE City Alliance, Healthy Communities Alliance, and Cultural Compact, while not being intended to replace them.

This Collaborative Network session will give us an opportunity to harness our collective insight, offering space to reflect and make sense of recent cross-sector conversations, and to think further about how the city might get the best from the Covenant.

Our focus on the Civil Society Covenant will be a ‘starter for ten.’ At the end of the session it’s over to Network members to identify the themes they’d like the conversation to cover next time.
