Changes to mental health support services in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent
Two new Wellbeing Centres are to open in Stoke-on-Trent
From 24 June 2024, we will be opening two new Wellbeing Centres in partnership with Changes, North Staffordshire Mind, and the Coalfield Regeneration Trust. These Wellbeing Centres will replace the recently closed Clubhouse Networks at the American and Observatory.
The Wellbeing Centres will be available at:
- The Dudson Centre, Hope Street, Hanley, ST1 5DD
- Monday to Friday 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Meir Community Education Centre, Pickford Place, Meir, ST3 7DY
- Thursdays 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Wellbeing Centres are designed to foster a sense of community and belonging. They will offer designated quiet areas, group and 1-2-1 spaces, and opportunities to connect with others who, through their lived experience of mental health recovery, can offer empathy, understanding, and encouragement.
Wellbeing Centres offer a range of meaningful activities, co-produced with service users, to promote recovery and wellbeing. For example:
- Art therapy and creative workshops,
- Board games and social activities,
- Organised outings,
- Music and drama groups ,
- Mindfulness and relaxation,
- Psycho-education, life skills training and relapse prevention,
- 1-2-1 wellbeing coaching
Wellbeing Centres not only promote recovery and social inclusion but also remove the barriers that many face in accessing traditional health, care and support systems.
