Stoke-on-Trent Centenary Celebrations

Brew-tiful Stoke: The Big Centenary Tea Party

This summer, Stoke-on-Trent is set to host something truly special – The Big Centenary Tea Party!

On Tuesday 8th July at 11:00 am, we’re calling on people across the city – and around the world – to come together for a moment of joy, community, and a good party.

We already have over 88 venues hosting tea parties with a huge 8000 people signed up!!

To mark the city’s 100th birthday, we’re not just celebrating – we’re also going for a world record!  We’re aiming to set the  World Record for the World’s Biggest Cream Tea Party.

There are two ways you can join in

Host Your Own Tea Party
Bring your community together your way! Whether it’s a picnic in the park, a cosy gathering at home, or a tea party at work – every celebration matters. Hosts do not have to meet the world record criteria – you can do it anyway you like and eat and drink whatever you fancy!

Join a World Record Hub Event
Want to be part of the official Guinness World Record attempt? Join one of our registered hub events, where everything is in place to meet the official criteria – from scones and tea to timed participation and record verification.

Whichever you choose, you’ll be part of something truly special. Every cream tea, every gathering, every smile helps us mark 100 years of Stoke-on-Trent with pride.

And huge thankyou to everyone who has already registered to host an event, Double Tree, Victoria Hall, and Stoke Minster for agreeing to be Hubs for the record attempt and Cottage Delight and Stoke on Trent Bid who are helping with donations

Let’s raise our cups (and our scones!) together – for community, for celebration, and for the Stokie spirit.

“The team at DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke is thrilled to take part in the Centenary Cream Tea Guinness World Record attempt. In such a milestone year for Stoke, it’s inspiring to see the true ‘Stokie’ spirit shine through as the community—public, schools, and local businesses—comes together for this exciting event.” Claire Furnell King – Cluster General Manager

“We are delighted that the Victoria Hall is involved in the city’s world record attempt at hosting the largest cream tea party as part of this year’s centenary celebrations! We love getting involved in community activities and sharing our venue for such fantastic projects. We’re also really excited to partner with all the incredible local businesses and charities pulling this together, and we can’t wait to smash the world record! Cheryl Taylor Theatre Director – ATG Entertainment
