The Civil Society Covenant: Future Directions for Our City Alliance
In July 2025, Government launched the Civil Society Covenant.
The Covenant is intended to offer ‘living principles’ for resetting the relationship between the UK Government and civil society, as well as providing foundations for a strong, sustainable, and independent civil society capable of collaborating with government.
On a local level, The Civil Society Covenant reinforces the commitment already shared through local agreements, such as the VCSE City Alliance, Healthy Communities Alliance, and Cultural Compact, while not being intended to replace them.
This co-facilitated session presents a timely opportunity to review our relationship, and renew our shared commitment together.
The VCSE City Alliance is now a little over a year old, while Government is working towards identifying a number of areas across the country which can demonstrate the progress of the Covenant on a local level.
At both sessions, we will hear from colleagues who make City Alliance – and Covenant – principles a reality every day through their work, share reflections and metrics to help us gauge our progress together, and use the Government’s recommended ‘Progress Signs’ to better understand our readiness to build our relationship further.
Please book either the morning (9:30am) or afternoon (1:00pm) session – each will be identical.
