Why have people with Down’s syndrome been added to the high risk list for COVID?

A decision has been made to include all adults who have Down’s syndrome in the group of people who are considered to be clinically extremely vulnerable. This is the group who were previously advised to shield.

More information has come to light and that adults who have Down’s syndrome appear to be at a higher risk of
severe outcomes from COVID-19.
