Carer's Group Volunteer

About Lifeworks
We are a charity supporting marginalised people aged 14+ in North Staffordshire who are autistic or have ADHD, Dyspraxia, or Tourette’s Syndrome—many also experience poor mental health. We support over 900 clients and 330 carers through advocacy, one‑to‑one appointments, coaching, activities, drop‑ins, carer groups, and befriending.

About the Role

Lifeworks North Staffs is seeking volunteers aged 18+ to support and eventually lead our Carer Group Drop‑Ins. These groups offer a safe, supportive space for carers to share experiences and connect with others.

What the role involves

Assisting the current group facilitator, with the opportunity to lead sessions in future.

Engaging with carers and helping to guide group discussions.

Requirements

Experience of being or working in a caring role (as a parent or supporting someone else) and must have Autism experience.

When and Where

Groups run on the first and second Wednesdays of each month in Northwood and Middleport.

Each session lasts around 2 hours.

Additional sessions in new locations may be added in future.

Reasonable travel and role‑related expenses will be reimbursed.

What our volunteers say

“Volunteering has helped my confidence and wellbeing. Lifeworks feels like a big family, and supporting other carers is very rewarding.”

“It feels good to be there for someone and to have their companionship in return.”
