About the Role
Urban Wilderness CIC is offering a short-term volunteer opportunity to support its Open Door Community Lounge sessions, held on Tuesday mornings during term time. These sessions provide a welcoming space for the community and are supported by Adult Social Care.
What You'll Do
You will help set up the space by moving tables and chairs, prepare and serve refreshments, provide customer service to attendees and assist with basic administrative tasks. The role involves working with members of the public, including individuals who may be vulnerable.
Skills and Attributes
You should be friendly, approachable and willing to help in a practical, hands-on environment. Good communication skills and a positive attitude are important, along with the ability to work as part of a team and support a welcoming atmosphere.
Benefits to You
You will receive training in customer service, along with a Food Hygiene Certificate and DBS Certificate. This role also offers an introduction to Urban Wilderness and the Community Lounge, and the opportunity to gain experience supporting community activities.
Training and Support
Training and guidance will be provided to support you in your role, including customer service training and information about the sessions.
Commitment
The placement runs for 6 weeks with sessions held on Tuesdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The role is based at Urban Wilderness CIC. Please note that there is no accessible toilet, and kitchen access requires the use of stairs. Travel costs for public transport can be claimed. If there are multiple volunteers, a rota may be introduced.
