Young Enterprise helps young people realise their potential and succeed in a changing world of work — and we need volunteers to make that happen.
Our Business Volunteers play a vital role in inspiring and supporting students to set up and run a real business. This is a hands‑on, practical volunteering role where young people can apply their learning in a safe, supportive environment.
About the Role
As a Business Volunteer, you will mentor and encourage a group of students as they navigate the challenges of running a business — including problem‑solving, teamwork, and dealing with setbacks.
What You’ll Do
Coach, mentor, and positively challenge a student company
Be a supportive and encouraging role model
Attend regular student company meetings within a school or college
Help keep students on track
Support more complex tasks, such as opening a business bank account
Time Commitment
Approximately 1 hour per week
Based within schools or colleges
Volunteering takes place throughout the school term
Who Can Volunteer?
You do not need experience of running a business to make a real impact in this role.
A great Business Volunteer will be:
Patient, encouraging, and open‑minded
Comfortable spending time with young people
Able to communicate clearly and appropriately
Willing to attend regular face‑to‑face meetings in schools
Open to learning, challenge, and being challenged
Comfortable using basic IT
Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check before starting
