Collection Researcher
Art UK
Art UK is looking for Volunteer Collection Researchers to help find and record information about exhibitions, events, and displays at Art UK Partner collections across the UK.
This role helps Art UK promote art by creating accurate records that are used for website content, stories, curations, and social media posts.
What Do Volunteer Collection Researchers Do?
Research upcoming exhibitions, events, and displays at partner collections
Record accurate details into a spreadsheet
Help provide information used to promote UK art collections online
Contribute as part of a friendly online volunteer community
All volunteering is done from home.
This Role Would Suit People Who
Are interested in art, heritage, local history, or biography
Enjoy learning about exhibitions and cultural events
Like researching information online
Can keep accurate and well‑organised records
Follow instructions carefully
Enjoy being part of a network and working respectfully with others
Training & Support
Induction and role‑specific training provided
Written guidance document supplied
A named supervisor (Art UK’s Community Volunteer Manager)
Opportunities to ask questions, receive feedback, and discuss your contribution
Time Commitment
Flexible — from 1–2 hours a week to more, if you wish
We are currently looking for volunteers able to commit for around 6 months
