About the Role
Mothers Mind (Staffordshire) is a charity supporting and empowering women who are experiencing maternal mental illness. The organisation provides a safe, open space where women can talk about their feelings and emotions while navigating motherhood. Support is offered around identity changes, body confidence, self-esteem, and adapting to changes in independence, as well as the impact of these challenges on family relationships. This role involves supporting group sessions as a Peer Support Volunteer.

 

What You'll Do
You will support group sessions by welcoming new members and helping them feel comfortable and included. This includes making tea and toast, taking part in group discussions, and sharing your own experiences of maternal mental health where appropriate to support others.

 

Skills and Attributes
You should have personal experience of maternal mental illness and feel comfortable sharing your experiences in a supportive setting. An open, friendly and approachable personality is important, along with the ability to listen and engage with others in a group environment.

Training and Support
Support will be provided to help you feel confident in your role and part of the group environment.

 

Commitment
Volunteers are asked to commit approximately 2 hours per month to support group sessions.

You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses.
