During this national emergency and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the voluntary sector is working hard to respond to the crisis and support those you need the most help within our communities, but officials don’t seem to understand the scale of the crisis within our sector. Charities are already facing sink-or-swim scenarios just weeks into the epidemic in the UK.

Only last week, Chancellor Rishi Sunak included charity workers as “essential workers” but the backing and support for the sector is slow in being confirmed. To gain further clarity on finances and support, Stephen Doughty MP has written to the Chancellor urging him to provide clarity on the business support measures that we as a sector need.

Now, NAVCA and other major infrastructure bodies and organisations are using their “combined weight and influence to bring about urgent and immediate action to create a meaningful package of financial support for the sector.”

What is needed now is the support of all the MP’s in the country, and NAVCA are asking voluntary sector groups to write to their local MP’s asking them to back the campaign. You can use the template provided (editable download below) and it takes just a few minutes.
