The #StokeCares campaign is now in full swing and we’ve had a good response so far.
We still need to recruit at least 40 more people from across the city to come forward to help provide essential care to vulnerable adults in their own homes. It’s a flexible role that can include weekend and evening work and can be adapted to people’s personal circumstances.
A background in care would be helpful but is not essential as training will be provided by experienced city council staff. Personal protective equipment will also be provided if carers are to work with anyone with coronavirus symptoms.
Those providing personal care such as bathing and helping people to go to the toilet will also be given an additional monthly payment on top of the normal wage which is expected to be an additional £200 a month for someone who works full-time.
All we ask is that applicants are caring, compassionate, honest, reliable and kind people. There are currently approximately 1,500 residents across the city receiving home care organised by the city council and we need to make sure they are as safe as possible and that their vital care is being maintained during these difficult times.
