NHS and Social Care Step into Work Initiative Adult Social Care Course

Have you or anyone that you are supporting ever thought about a career change?

Pre-Employment training is the ideal way to sample a new career in health or social care. If it is right for you, then you can gain the qualification needed to start in this type of work.

It is a 6-week programme consisting of:

  • 3 weeks training delivered at Stoke on Trent College
  • 3 weeks work experience placement of 30 hours per week

Assessment days will be held at Hanley Job Centre on Tuesday 18th or Wednesday 19th February where information about the course will be explained to candidates and an Initial Assessment will be carried out.
If you pass the Initial Skills Assessment you will be supported to complete the Step into Work application form along with interview technique training for the work placement.

The training runs for 3 weeks full-time and covers a full level 1 Adult Social Care qualification, together with units dedicated to: respect and care of the individual, and work interview preparation. During the final training week you will meet your placement provider.

Candidates that successfully complete the 3 weeks training and the work placement interview will then take part in 3 week placement within the Health or Social Care settings. Upon successful completion you will be given professional feedback and signposted to relevant job vacancies.

Every student enrolled is entitled to a free breakfast from 8.00am – 8.45am during your training.
If you are over 19 and claiming a state benefit this could be the first step on your career ladder. Ask your work coach to book you on to the next course.
