Due to the spread of the Coronavirus (covid-19), people across the country are worried about how we should react and what we can do to try to prevent the spread of the virus.

But, as a sector, what steps should we be taking to protect ourselves, our staff, our volunteers, service users and visitors?

The guide, “Your Organisation and Coronavirus”, from NCVO provides up-to-date information on what you may need to do to in light of the current situation. The guidance is regularly updated so you will always be up to speed on what’s happening and what you need to do.

The guide begins with an outline on Covid-19 and its symptoms but goes on to explain what you can do to help prevent the spread of the virus and how you can protect the people within your organisation. For example, workplaces and public buildings are advised to regularly disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces and display an NHS ’Catch it, Bin it, Kill it’ poster and effective handwashing techniques posters.

Current advice on holding events and financial implications, updates on self-isolation and sick leave together with other useful resources and sector-specific guidance for community/residential care and educational settings are also included.

Due to the spread of the virus, government updates will now be released on a weekly basis, rather than daily and NCVO’s guide makes sure the voluntary sector can react to any changes in guidance as soon as possible.
