Empowering Individuals on the Autistic Spectrum

Lifeworks Staffordshire is a registered charity supporting people aged 14+ with High Functioning Autistic Spectrum Conditions in North Staffordshire. Some of our people struggle with social interaction and are very isolated affecting confidence and making daily life tasks difficult.

Lifeworks has recently received National Lottery funding for a Befriending project and is looking for compassionate, friendly Volunteer Befrienders (18+) with good communication and organisational skills. The role will include helping to build social interaction by establishing and maintaining a friendly, sympathetic and professional relationship. Contacting the client on a weekly basis, encouraging engagement with Lifeworks and other organisation activities to help the client gain confidence through social interaction and valuable life skills improving their quality of life.

The role is available in the Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-Under-Lyme and Staffs Moorlands Areas. Training is provided with a mentor to support you. Travel and reasonable role related expenses are paid. Our office is based in Newcastle-Under-Lyme town centre and we currently assist over 580 clients and their carers’, providing much needed and relevant services. Our aim is to enable our clients to gain social inclusion in the community in order to develop a sustainable and rewarding lifestyle.
